The Bernie Sanders campaign want the Superdelegates to switch their votes to Hillary Clinton because they are concerned about Donald Trump and his recent poll numbers rising since he became the presumptive nominee. Is the sky falling? Is disenfranchising the majority of voters in the Democratic primary the only way to avoid getting Trump in the oval office?
Not necessarily.
Did you know that when John McCain clinched the GOP nomination that he had a bump in the polls.
Did you know that when Mitt Romney clinched the GOP nomination that he had a bump in the polls.
And now Trump gets a bump in the polls after he clinched the GOP nomination.
How am I to interpret that?
Well, considering that President Obama also had a bump in the polls when he won the nomination I would interpret the data as saying winning your party nomination gives you a bump in the polls.
